Data Contribution Policy
You keep ownership of what you capture. You grant rarvo a licence to use it to build and improve authenticity screening. Accepted, unique submissions are paid, and a mailed counterfeit card is not returned — it joins the reference library.
Purpose
rarvo is assembling a reference library of trading card evidence — genuine, counterfeit, suspected, and uncertain — so that authenticity screening can be built and measured honestly. Contributors are paid because good evidence is worth paying for.

What rarvo asks you to contribute
A complete case is far more useful than a single photograph, and only a complete case can be accepted. A complete case includes the photographs and short videos the capture flow asks for, the card’s exact identity and language, how the card was obtained, and why you believe it is genuine, counterfeit, or uncertain.
You keep ownership, rarvo gets a capture licence
You continue to own the photographs and video you submit. By contributing, you grant rarvo a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, process, analyse, and internally reproduce that material for the purpose of building, operating, and improving authenticity screening.
That licence is limited by the permissions you select during submission. Publication, redistribution, and use in public examples are not granted by default. rarvo does not publish your name or your personal details.
A payout is consideration for that licence and for the work of the capture. It does not transfer ownership of your photographs to rarvo.
What you are paid for
Payment is for accepted, unique cases. Rates are published on the bounty page and on the board, and rarvo may change them for future submissions.
Payouts are made through PayPal or Venmo. Where cumulative payments to one contributor reach the level at which reporting applies, rarvo may need tax information from you before paying further. Counsel is confirming the thresholds and forms, and they will be stated on this page before the program opens.
Honesty about provenance
The library is only as good as the labels attached to it. If you are unsure whether a card is genuine, say so — “unsure” is a valid and useful contribution. A confident but wrong label is actively harmful, and a pattern of them ends your participation.
Mailed physical cards
Some counterfeit cards are far more valuable as physical references than as photographs, which is why mail-ins pay the most. Do not mail anything until rarvo contacts you with instructions. rarvo is not responsible for items mailed without an arranged instruction.
A mailed counterfeit card that rarvo accepts is not returned. It becomes part of the physical reference library and is retained by rarvo. Standard shipping is reimbursed on accepted cards, and mail-ins are accepted from US addresses only for now.
Do not buy counterfeits in order to submit them
rarvo pays for counterfeits that are already circulating and have already cost someone money. Buying, importing, or commissioning a counterfeit card in order to claim a bounty funds the exact trade rarvo exists to disrupt. It is prohibited, it forfeits payment, and it may be unlawful where you live.
What rarvo will not do
Each of the following is a commitment, not a preference.
- rarvo does not issue a certificate, a grade, an appraisal, or a guarantee for a contributed card.
- rarvo does not present the advisory assessment attached to an accepted submission as a certification.
- rarvo does not publish your submitted captures by default.
- rarvo does not publish your name or your personal details.
- rarvo does not sell your personal information.
Withdrawal
You can ask rarvo to remove a contribution by writing to hello@rarvo.com with enough detail to identify the submission. rarvo will remove it from the working library. Material already incorporated into a trained artifact may not be individually retrievable, a physical card already accepted as a mail-in is not returned, and counsel will advise on how both are described before launch.
