Terms of Use

rarvo returns an advisory authenticity risk assessment. It is not a certification, not a grade, not an appraisal, and not a guarantee, and professional grading remains the standard for a high-value sale.

Internal pre-launch notice

Placeholder text pending review by counsel. Not a binding agreement. The contributor payout and tax terms in particular are incomplete.

Acceptance

By using rarvo.com, ismypokemoncardreal.com, or authenticateyourpokemon.com, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the sites.

What a rarvo verdict is

This is the most important term on this page. rarvo returns one of three advisory results for a screened card — Clear, Review, or Likely Counterfeit — together with the observations behind it. A result is an opinion about risk, formed from the evidence supplied, at the moment it was supplied.

rarvo does not certify, grade, appraise, or guarantee any card. A rarvo result is not a certificate, is not a grade, and is not a warranty of authenticity. It is not equivalent to a decision by a professional grading company, and for a high-value sale professional grading remains the final word. Combine a result with physical inspection before money moves.

A result describes the card that was captured. It does not travel with the card, does not bind any later buyer, and does not survive a substitution.

Educational content

Material describing printing, surface, edge, and provenance characteristics is general and incomplete. Legitimate cards vary between printings, languages, and production runs. No single characteristic proves that a card is genuine or counterfeit, and nothing in that material is a determination about your specific card.

The contributor bounty program

The bounty program is open to US residents aged 18 or older. Mail-in submissions are accepted from US addresses only for now.

Payment is made for accepted, unique submissions after review. Duplicates, screenshots, images taken from listings you do not own, and generated images are declined, and repeat offenders are removed from the program. Submitting a card creates no entitlement to payment before rarvo accepts it.

You must not purchase, import, or commission a counterfeit card in order to submit it. rarvo pays for counterfeits that already exist in the community, not for new ones entering it. Doing so breaches these terms and may be unlawful where you live.

A card you mail in and rarvo accepts is not returned to you. It joins the reference library as a physical counterfeit reference. Do not mail anything you want back, and do not mail anything before rarvo sends instructions.

Contributions and honesty

When you contribute you confirm that the card is physically in your possession, that you captured it yourself through the rarvo flow, that you have the right to submit the material, and that your account of the card’s history is honest to the best of your knowledge. “I am not sure” is an honest and useful answer. rarvo may decline, remove, or not use any submission.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use the sites to do any of the following.

  • Submit material you do not have the right to submit.
  • Submit deliberately falsified evidence or a dishonest account of a card’s history.
  • Buy, import, or commission counterfeit cards in order to claim a bounty.
  • Interfere with, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the sites or their infrastructure.
  • Describe a rarvo result to a third party as a certification, a grade, an appraisal, or a guarantee.

Intellectual property

rarvo is an independent service and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by The Pokémon Company, Nintendo, Creatures, or Game Freak. Pokémon and related names are trademarks of their respective owners. rarvo’s own name, wordmark, and site content belong to rarvo.

Disclaimer and limitation of liability

Changes

rarvo may update these terms, and may change the bounty program, its rates, and its wanted list. Continued use of the sites after an update means you accept the updated terms.

rarvo and Sell Me Your Pokémon are operated by the same team. Sell Me Your Pokémon buys collections and has a direct incentive to avoid holding counterfeits. That need for better evidence is part of why rarvo exists.
